The knowledge is pretty well-known that EA and Disney have partnered with the sole purpose of having EA create Star Wars games. By taking the necessary steps, EA created a new DICE studio located in Los Angeles. DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson talks about how the new studio will still maintain the same work environment as the other DICE studios. Interestingly enough, the location for this new studio was influenced by other developers in the area. Infinity Ward and Treyarch studios both reside in LA; the two rival developers behind Call of Duty.

There is an extreme talent pool over that we want a part of. It’s no secret that our main competitor is there." With this said, Troedsson makes it clear that the new studio will do what it is designed to accomplish no matter what. Thanks to a tweet from the Battlefield account, we know jobs are being offered and that gives a glimpse of what to expect. The LA studio looks like it will be focusing on Star Wars mobile titles for Android, iOS and PC. Even with this focus on the mobile platforms, consoles won't be neglected seeing how an audio artist position demands "strong Gen 3 console title experience" as well as "solid knowledge of PC and console audio hardware". The future for Star Wars games looks bright, so let's just hope we can have something to look forward to in the future.

I'm all for letting EA handle Star Wars because regardless of how people view them, they still make good games. Bioware, Visceral Games and DICE all have exceptionally good games under their belt, so there's definitely more pros than cons here.
