EA Stepping Into The MOBA Arena
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas or MOBAs have been extremely successful in the past few years especially with behemoth League of Legends. Potentially seeing the gain in MOBAs, EA has announced their own MOBA called Dawngate. This fantasy MOBA is the first project developed by Waystone Games, which could be considered a spin-off of sorts from Visceral Games since both are owned by EA.
Beta sign-ups are open as of right now but there has been no word on when the beta will commence or even when Dawngate is supposed to be released. As to watch we can expect from Dawngate, the official site reads as follows: "Dawngate is a new MOBA, built from the ground up to look and feel familiar while offering a whole new way to experience MOBA gameplay. Dawngate empowers you to forge the champions you love for the roles you want in a competitive arena, shaped by ever-evolving, community-driven content and story."
At this time, no more details are known but we'll update the story if that changes.
For a long time, I didn't care for MOBAs and it was until recently that I got into League of Legends. Now with EA stepping up to make their own, I'm curious to see how this all works down the road.
