MGS: The Legacy Collection Not Coming To 360 Because of MGS4
When Konami showed off Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection, gamers were so excited to have all four main games in one convenient package. However, only PS3 owners will have access to the collection because MGS4 is "too big" for the Xbox 360. Hideo Kojima stated on his radio show that MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive and thus won't appear on Microsoft's console.
“I’m sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn’t being released, because an
Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasn’t gone on sale,” Kojima said. “To explain
the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous.” Apparently, it would take up to seven DVD's for the game to be compatible with the 360; something Kojima doesn't want to risk. Plus, seven DVD's for one game? That's practically unheard of.
“I want to put it out [on Xbox 360],” Kojima continued. “But we won’t be
releasing it. “When the next Xbox console [comes out], maybe we can
release it [The Legacy Collection]. If we released a version on the
Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it’s not The Legacy Collection.” Like Kojima previously stated, maybe the next Xbox can handle MGS4 and The Legacy Collection will finally be brought over.
I have both Xbox 360 and PS3, so I'm perfectly fine with decision. I do get why some gamers feel the way they do but considering that MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive; who honestly thought The Legacy would find its way to Xbox 360? Metal Gear Solid is rarely shared with other consoles other than Sony's. I'm just glad I can have all the main games on one disk now.
