Black Ops 2 and Microtransactions
If you want to blame EA for this, that’s your call. Regardless, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will see microtransactions as of tomorrow. This information came from MCV and according to Activision’s Dan Amrich, these items can be seen as “either personal customizations or nice little luxuries”, which won’t “affect gameplay” but rather offer “small, specific ways to enhance your online experience”.
He explains further that “At the end of the day, all of these items are completely optional, and were created for players who've asked for more customization options. If that’s not you, that’s fine; everybody gets Nuketown 2025 for free, so definitely take advantage of that.”
Personalization Packs will cost 160 MS Points each and offer unique weapon skins, three extra targeting reticules, and a calling card. If players need more Create-A-Class slots, ten additional slots can be brought for 160 MS Points. Costing 80 MS Points is the Flags of the World Calling Card. Finally, players can nab the Nuketown 2025 Zombies map absolutely free.
The microtransactions are exclusive to the Xbox 360 for a time but Activision has confirmed these items for PC and PS3 for a later date. Sadly, no word on whether or not the Wii U will get the same treatment.
