New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC hitting Japan in Oct, 200 yen apiece

-Greg Livingston

Tonight, Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co., Ltd., announced the first three DLC packs for New Super Mario Bros. 2’s Coin Rush mode. Each one will sell in Japan for 200 yen (approx $2.58 USD) starting on October 2, 2012. Each will contain three new levels. No US release details have been provided yet.

  • Go! Go! Gold Mario Pack: This pack claims to have up to 30,000 coins. There is an emphasis on Gold Mario in this pack.
  • Challenge the Record Pack A: The top worldwide scores will be posted on the New Super Mario Bros. 2 home page.
  • Survival Panic Pack: Very difficult stages.

Unlike the game’s standard Coin Rush mode, the stages in these DLC packs will not be randomized. You will only play the three levels exclusive to each pack.

Club Nintendo survey responses influenced the stage design in these packs.

Iwata also mentioned that more DLC packs are to be announced at the end of October and November respectively.
