Sony has sold 2.2 million Vitas worldwide
Sony has revealed new sales figures for the PlayStation Vita. According to a representative from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Sony sold 2.2 million Vita systems worldwide as of June 30th.
The figure is up by around 400,000 units since the 1.8 million that Sony CEO Kaz Hirai reported in May. Before that, Sony announced that 1.2 million Vitas were sold in the week following its international launch and that 790,000 Vitas had been sold in Japan as of July.
It’s no secret that the sales for the Vita have been slow. In the next couple months, however; some serious heavy hitters are arriving on the platform that Sony hopes will boost the sales. These games include: Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified, Assassins Creed III: Liberation, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Persona 4: Golden.
