EA Financials: Digital Up 36%, FIFA sells over 14.5m, Battlefield 3 has 3.5m Subs, and SimCity sells 1.6m

Electronic Arts released their financials today for their investors, and there were some interesting things to take away from it. ​EA's digital strategy, while taking a lot of criticism from hardcore gamers, has obviously been working as they saw their non-GAAP digital net revenue rise 36% to $1.7 billion. EA was also the #1 publisher in Western retail markets in the March quarter, and the #1 global publisher in the iOS game market for FY 2013.

Respawn Entertainment Trademarks 'Titan'

There has been pretty much no information released so far on the first game from Respawn Entertainment, the studio formed from the fallout of Infinity Ward by Jason West and Vince Zampella. What we have now found out is that the developer has trademarked the name 'Titan' for use in video games. With an actual title maybe we could finally see Respawn and publisher EA announce the new game at E3. Odds are that the game will be a shooter, but not much is really known at this point since the project has been very tight-lipped. I know I'm personally looking forward to seeing what this team can do. ​

EA Offering SimCity Players One of Eight Free Games

As a result of SimCity’s horribly executed launch two weeks ago, EA is now giving their apologies in the form of free games for all who purchased at launch. If you already have activated SimCity, you should be getting an email from EA shortly if not already. If you have purchased SimCity but haven't activated it yet, do so before March 25 to choose your free game.

Crysis 3 Review

We all love super-soldiers. That feeling of unapologetic invincibility we get when we play as a super powered being is overwhelming at times. However, it isn't easy to relate to characters in first-person shooters, considering they murder others very frequently and in some cases, scream out obscenities every five minutes or so. That is not the case with the Crysis series and its third installment. Crytek has commendably built up a great protagonist in Prophet for two previous games to culminate in Crysis 3.
