Today for Indie October, I decided to watch Conception based on the fact that it has a crazy good cast. You have Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Suburgatory), Pamela Adlon (Louie), Jason Mantzoukas (The League), and David Arquette (Scream). That's not even all the good actors in this movie. The movie follows nine different couple as they each go through their moment of conception. This movie is hilarious from the outset as there is a great scene where Paul (Arquette), who is a school teacher for what looks like kindergarteners, gets asked where babies come from. Conception is very much about the relationships between the couples and how sex isn't always erotic. I must say that all the couples seemed very much like real couples and were very believable. There are just as many weird awkward moments as there are funny moments. There are also a handful of sweet moments. Honestly, this isn't a movie you can really say much about as most of it is about the conversations that these couples have, but it's a great movie. The acting, the writing, and the directing are all great. Just go watch it! Available on Netflix right now!
